Personal group project · Volunteer beach cleanup

IN2Ocean

A beach cleanup companion, designed end to end as a personal group project: its own identity and style guides, a collection flow built around what volunteers actually pick up, and a reward ladder that counts weight and distance rather than screen time.

The Collect Trash screen: a three-column grid of illustrated tiles for cigarette buds, balloons, toys, fishing gear, plastic bags, food wrappers, containers, beverage cans, cups, plates, lids, straws and utensils, each with a counter, then an Other Trash section bucketed under 2.5cm, under 5cm and larger than 5cm.
Figure 1  ·  Collect trash The taxonomy is the interface
Thirteen named types
Each is a tile with its own illustration and its own counter, so logging an item is one tap rather than a search through a list.
Everything else, sized
What is not on the grid falls into three size buckets rather than into a free-text field that nobody would total afterwards.
Counting, not typing
The screen is built for one hand in a glove on a beach, which is the same constraint the warehouse work has.
The Explore screen showing a My Progress card reading 3500 points at Level 5, a My Events row of event cards with beach photographs, and a Nearby Events row below.
Figure 2  ·  Explore Progress above events

Progress sits above events, not below them: the reason to open the app is what you have already done.

A session summary headed Congratulations reading: number of items collected 34, total weight 1.25 kg, distance covered 1.2 km, time elapsed 02:14:00, and a line awarding 125 ocean points with three stars and a Level 5 to Level 6 progress bar.
Figure 3  ·  Session summary Physical numbers first

The close-out counts items, weight, distance and time before it counts points. The physical numbers come first, and the game sits underneath them.

The IN2Ocean logo guide: the wordmark in blue, in coral, reversed out of blue and reversed out of coral, with a dolphin mark, a type specimen reading Aa Bb, and a row of colour swatches.

What it is

A cleanup, logged item by item.

Find or create an event, log what comes off the beach as you pick it up, and close the session on a weight, a distance and a badge. The artefact is a complete product: identity, light and dark style guides, a component set and the screens that use them.

What is not recorded

Whose hand did which part.

This is a group project and the split of work is not written down anywhere the site can cite — not in an appraisal, not on a CV, not in a handover. The page therefore describes the thing that exists rather than claiming a role in making it. That gap is hers to close, and it is left open rather than guessed at.
